Terms of service

Just Yap is operated by L. Pretorius, an individual ("we", "us"). These terms apply the moment you create an account. By signing up, you agree to them. If you're only on the waitlist, the only thing that applies to you right now is the privacy policy.

Who can use Just Yap

You must be 16 or older to create an account. By signing up, you're confirming you meet that requirement. If we learn an account belongs to someone younger, we'll close it.

Your account

You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for what happens under your account. Tell us if you think someone else has access to it. One account per person — don't share logins.

The AI features

Just Yap uses Anthropic's Claude AI to sort your journal entries, reply to you, and build insight cards, as described in our privacy policy. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or oddly phrased — treat it as a helpful first pass, not a source of truth. Don't rely on it for anything where being wrong would cause real harm (medical, legal, financial, or safety decisions).

What you put into Just Yap

You keep ownership of what you write. You're responsible for making sure you have the right to enter whatever content you put into the app, and for not using Just Yap to store or process content that's illegal, infringes someone else's rights, or is intended to harm others.

Acceptable use

Don't try to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or scrape Just Yap; don't use it to send spam or abuse; don't try to access another user's account or data. We can suspend or terminate accounts that do this.

Subscriptions & payment

Just Yap is currently free to use. If we introduce paid plans, pricing, billing terms, and cancellation details will be shown clearly before you're charged, and these terms will be updated to reflect them. Any purchases made through the App Store or Play Store are additionally subject to Apple's and Google's own terms and refund policies.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your data as described in the privacy policy. We can suspend or terminate an account for violating these terms, with notice where reasonably possible.

No warranty

Just Yap is provided "as is." We're a small, actively-developed product — features change, and we don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose beyond what's described here.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Just Yap. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or a nominal amount if you haven't paid us anything.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, or remedy available to you under the Australian Consumer Law (or other law) that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted, or modified. Where our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee cannot be excluded but can be limited, it's limited, at our option, to re-supplying the service or paying the cost of having it re-supplied.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms materially, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app. Continuing to use Just Yap after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Australian Capital Territory, Australia, without regard to conflict of law principles.
