Delete your account

Last updated 13 August 2026

If you can still sign in, the quickest way is in the app: Settings → Delete account. It's immediate and permanent, and you don't need to contact anyone.

If you can't sign in

Lost your phone, forgot your password, or lost access to the Google or Facebook account you signed in with — whatever the reason, you can still get your account and data deleted without reinstalling the app.

Email pretorius.ops@gmail.com — or write the address by hand if the link above doesn't open your mail app:

pretorius.ops@gmail.com

Send it from the email address your Just Yap account is registered under, with the subject "Delete my Just Yap account". That address is how we confirm the request is really from you — we can't act on a deletion request from any other address.

If you signed in with Google or Facebook

Same process. Email us from the address that Google or Facebook account uses — that's the "registered" address for an account created that way. This is the one path that still works even if you've lost access to the Google or Facebook account itself, since you're proving ownership by email instead of by signing in.

What gets deleted

Everything tied to your account, permanently — not hidden, not archived:

There's no undo once this runs. If you also signed up for the waitlist under the same address, that's a separate record and isn't touched — mention it in the same email if you'd like that removed too.

How long it takes

In-app deletion is immediate. An emailed request is actioned within 72 hours, and you'll get a reply once it's done.

Data retention after deletion

Deleting your account removes your data from the live database right away. Our nightly server backups are kept for up to 14 days on a rolling basis and then automatically discarded — a deleted account may exist in a backup for up to that long before the last copy ages out.
